Dr. Blandford’s treatment is tailored to each patient’s condition and type of problem. His office does not have a cookie cutter approach when it comes to treatment, because every patient’s condition is unique. There are many factors to consider such as: a person’s work history, hobbies, previous traumas, and spinal genetics. Each of these factors requires careful consideration when formulating an effective treatment plan. Our treatment goals are to provide as much relief as possible, in the shortest amount of time, while achieving stability.
Chiropractic Care
Dr. Blandford’s treatment is based on manual orientation, primarily using his hands. His treatment does not involve a lot of machines, gadgets, or electrical modalities. Dr. Blandford specializes in treating both bones (joints) and soft tissues (muscles/tendons). He feels both of these areas play a significant role in musculo-skeletal disorders. Dr. Blandford’s primary treatment for bones/joints is the Chiropractic adjustment. Chiropractic adjustments are performed manually, using diversified technique. He also uses a technique called Chiropractic Biophysics for structural related conditions such as spinal curvature. The purpose of this treatment is to correct and restore normal joint function and alignment. Subluxations (mis-aligned bones), are extremely harmful to your body’s overall health and can be a major cause of physical symptoms including pain. Correcting these misalignments not only helps alleviate musculo-skeletal symptoms, but can also enhance your body’s overall function and performance.
Active Release Technique
|
Dr. Blandford is certified in Active Release Technique (ART), which is highly successful at restoring normal muscle/tissue function. ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles. These conditions must be treated strategically and precisely in order to achieve correction. This is where ART shines. This technique can be somewhat “uncomfortable”, but the results are worth it.
Active Rehabilitation
Dr. Blandford utilizes an active rehabilitation program which is condition specific and typically is performed by the patient at home. Therefore, he/she can train on a frequent basis in order to improve overall effectiveness. This also proves cost effective for the patient. Overcoming a condition usually involves commitment by both doctor and patient.
